Description

One of the longest-running debates is whether chili should include beans or not. Ultimately, whether to include beans is entirely up to you, but contrary to popular belief, chili didn’t originally include beans. Early versions were built on slow-cooked meat, bold spices, and patience. This recipe proudly sticks to those roots. Every spoonful is hearty, comforting, and warms you from the inside out.

Directions

Step 1

Dice the yellow onion, green bell pepper, and jalapeño.

Step 2

Heat a small amount of oil in a large pot. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up as it browns. Once browned, drain any excess grease.

Step 3

Add diced onions and peppers, stir to combine, and cook for 2 minutes.

Step 4

Pour in the tomato sauce and fire-roasted diced tomatoes.

Step 5

Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, chili powder, cumin, and smoked paprika.

Step 6

Add the granulated sugar.

Step 7

Pour in the beef broth and stir it well.

Step 8

Cover and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour.

Step 9

Serve and top with cheddar cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, and green onion.

Step 10

Enjoy.
