Craving a Fillet O Fish? You got McDonald’s money? Yes? No? It doesn’t matter; thanks to us, you have McDonald’s at home. While we love a good Fillet O Fish, we’re lovin our at-home version. Scratch that; we’re loving our fish sandwich. The freshness of the Cod, the crispiness of the batter, and the tanginess of the tartar sauce raise this sandwich to the next level. It’s too good to call it a copycat recipe. This is our fish sandwich recipe.

Directions

Step 1

Dice 2 dill pickle spears.

Step 2

Dice 1 shallot.

Step 3

Finely slice chives.

Step 4

Finely dice capers.

Step 5

Finely chop fresh dill.

Step 6

To a bowl add 1 cup mayonnaise, dice pickles, dice shallots, fresh dill, 1 tablespoon chives, 1 tablespoon capers, 1 tablespoon pickle juice, 1 teaspoon white sugar, 1/2 tsp dijon mustard, and the zest and juice of 1 lemon.

Step 7

Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Step 8

Cut cod into squares.

Step 9

Pat cod dry.

Step 10

Season to taste with creole seasoning, black pepper , onion powder, garlic powder , and cayenne pepper. Allow fish to sit for 10 minutes.

Step 11

In a bowl add 1 cup flour. Season to taste with creole seasoning.

Step 12

In another bowl add 1 1/4 cup flour and season to taste with creole seasoning, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Combine the ingredients.

Step 13

To the dry ingredients add 1 egg and 12 ounces of beer. Whisk until combined.

Step 14

Coat fish with flour, followed by batter, then fry.

Step 15

Fry at 365 degrees for 3-5 minutes or until golden. Place fish on wire rack.

Step 16

Spread mayonnaise on buns and toast in a pan.

Step 17

To bottom bun add cheese, fish, then tartar sauce.

Step 18

Enjoy.
